2014 FIFA World Cup Stadium Using BIM

  • 2014 FIFA World Cup Stadium Using BIM
Although we have just had the 2012 London Olympics, the 2014 FIFA World Cup isnt too far away! Just as the 2012 London Olympic Stadium, it seems a 2014 FIFA World Cup stadium in Brazil, Arena das Dunas, will also be using BIM! Designed by Populous, the stadium will have a capacity of 45,000.

Buro Happold works with Populous and is using Autodesk Revit Structure and Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis software to model the stadium. This is fantastic to see, especially with that complex roofing!

It seems many stadiums are really utilizing BIM to reduce costs, time and errors and on the topic of sports stadiums, we hope to see the venues being constructed for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio using BIM also!

We will keep an eye for any BIM image releases and of course pictures of the completed stadium!

For more information of the use of BIM for the Arena das Dunas see Autodesk, Inc.
