BIM Used to Design LEED-certified Offices

  • BIM Used to Design LEED-certified Offices
Autodesk will open new green office spaces this year in San Francisco, Milan, Beijing and the UK. They will be seeking LEED certification for each, which if achieved will bring Autodesk's office who have LEED certification to 13.

Autodesk will be using their own software (of course!) to design and build these new offices. The offices will also be mostly powered by green energy. The designs will include reduced lighting energy, increased ventilation efficiency and efficient plumbing fixtures.

In the past Autodesk has used cloud-based energy analysis, which was powered by Green Building Studio within Autodesk Revit, to create efficient designs. Additionally, on another project they used Autodesk 3ds Max Design to help visualise working space and ultimately created better working environments. In Beijing, for example, the new offices will be modeled in Autodesk Ecotect Analysis to help with LEED submission process.

Great to see BIM in use in gaining LEED certification!
