I was just reading this great article which discussed if investment in BIM for individual firms was paying off, here's a link: http://www.bdcnetwork.com/bim-finally-starting-pay-aec-firms?goback=%2Egmp_98421%2Egde_98421_member_..." target="_blank">http://www.bdcnetwork.com/bim-finally-starting-pay-aec-firms?goback=%2Egmp_98421%2Egde_98421_member_...

It is clear from the article that many firms have already adopted BIM but that it does take some investment, including staff time and money, to perfect it . However, the article and quoted CEOs are very optimistic and pleased with BIM, seeing great advantages to the software. Many firms are seeing return on investment, seeing improvements in analysis, data integration, facilities management, visualization, collaboration and even leading to a deeper exploration about how we approach our work, including how we draw and how we schedule our projects, according to resident Carole Wedge, FAIA, LEED AP. It's these advantages that we think make BIM a big must have in the coming years for a variety of companies and industries.

It's great to see companies such as structural engineering firm Magnusson Klemencic Associates, KJWW Engineering and Shepley Bulfinch all investing heavily in BIM and using BIM for most, if not all, projects.
