Organized in 1964 by research chemist, Dr. H. W. Bradley and Charlotte-based Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, NCFI Polyurethanes quickly became a leader in the manufacturing of flexible polyurethane foam for the bedding and furniture industries.
NCFI moved into its present-day 46,000 square-foot plant in Mount Airy, North Carolina, in 1966. Since then, the facility has been expanded eight times to its current 280,000 square feet. NCFI has another manufacturing plant in Hickory, North Carolina, in addition to Dalton, Ga., and Salt Lake City, Utah.
The company's growth mirrors the demand for foam in a variety of industries. NCFI offers a complete line of flexible foams for furniture seating, transportation seating, bedding, carpet underlay, and packaging. Also manufactured in Mount Airy are polyurethane foam chemical systems for spray foam-in-place insulation commonly referred to as SPF, roofing, marine floatation, packaging, specialty molding, and many other uses. All these lines are backed by the company's long-standing commitment to customer service and to staying on the leading edge of technology. NCFI also sells and services application equipment for its chemical systems.
